Wildlife Conservation
We can do more than we think to improve animal habitat. Here are some
things most of us can do:

Recycle waste products. The less raw materials we have to use, the less we
have to disturb natural habitat.

Minimize use of electric power and water. The less we use of all our natural
resources, the less we have to disturb the environment that supports all
living things.

Dispose of waste chemicals properly. Dumping them into drains and on
the ground allows them to go directly into surrounding ground water and
end up in streams and lakes and eventually into the ocean. The chemical
build-up in the water has a profound effect on all living things. Compost
and recycle lawn clippings to reduce use of chemical fertilizers.

Use bio-degradable soap products. Helps to reduce water polution.

Improve and protect habitat for wildlife. Don't remove existing wet sites
on your property unless absolutely necessary. It supports many wild things.
That goes for trees and shrubs and fields as well. Plant a tree.

Provide food and water for wildlife. You can supplement the animals diet
especially in the winter when food is scarce. But, if you start feeding,
don't stop, as the animals may be depending on your food resource.

Join local groups and volunteer for projects in your community.

Support active associations like The Audubon Society and the National
Wildlife Federation.

Be observant. Report habitat abuses and destruction to local authority
or to local interested groups like the Audubon Society.
